- johntankExplorerBeing 5'5" myself I would give BenK idea a try, it does work, my late wife and I used it for a while before I put running boards on my truck. Or you could try camperpaul idea also.
It's is a shame that some factory/dealer options are more for show/looks than function. - HalmfamilyExplorer

You need one of these:
Attach one end a rope to the handle; the other end goes to one of the "grab handles" in cab of the truck.
Store the stool where you can reach it while sitting in your seat.
To use it for getting out, snap the stool open, lower it to the ground with the rope, step down onto the stool, then to the ground. You can then fold the stool and store it in the cab.
When getting into the truck, unfold the stool, use it to get into the truck, pull it up by the rope, fold it up and store it ...
X2... My wife purchased the same stool and tied a string to it so my mother could it in our old F350. Worked great and slid in between the door and seat so she could easily get to it. Best of luck. - goducks10ExplorerWhat were you thinking when you bought it?
- K_CharlesExplorerWhen I was a service manager we got a new salesman, he was short and had the same complaint with his company truck. I had a mechanic tie a rope ladder to the seat so it would fall out when he opened the door. All I got was another closed door.

Ok - we got this RAM 3500 to pull our new 5th wheel and even with the step installed at the dealership I'm about 5" short of being able to get out without jumping - and I'm too old for that?
Any ideas about supplemental steps?
How much money do you want to spend? Click Here power running boards, but they are not cheap. Here's a set from Autoanything http://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/amp-power-step-running-boards
Don - campinginthewooExplorerHi my inlaw's had a F350 and it sat high and she was only 4' 7in and he ended up building a small wooden step (made it out 2x6 and 2x4) and she was always in first and then he would stow the steps and reverse whenever she needed to get out and even made one to help out while out camping in the fifth wheel. Yes their truck had running boards too.
- MaxnSamsmomExplorerIt's a 4x4 - and all of a month old - so it's not going to be replaced! Trying to get in without the running board thing for the test drive was NOT pretty! - I'm going to definitely try BenK's suggestion - it seems the most cost effective!

I'm 5'2" but "old" and "creaky" - even seeing the knee doc tomorrow! - I have to look to see how much lower than the sill the step is. I even noticed the difference between our old F150 4wd and our friend's RAM 2500 - just a couple of inches but enough to not reach the ground comfortably. We're going on the road in August so I'm going to try a couple of things then before our winter in Texas.
Wow, you didn't state if the 3500 was a 4X4 or a 4X2, either way those are big steps for you.
I just read BenK's post, and that is exactly how I get in and out of my 2500 4X4, and I am 6'!! I still find my running boards to be a tad high from flat ground, great from a curb. Yo may just need to get running boards, or Nerf tubes mounted at the correct height for your step. - May want to consider a 2 wheel drive truck if you struggle with steps. I know this setup is really low to the ground and shouldn't require steps.
- pennysmom09ExplorerAs a 5'6" female, with the typical poor upper body strength of a woman of a certain age, using BenK's method is exactly what I have learned to do getting in and out of our 350 with 20" wheels! Makes me feel kind of cool climbing into our "beast"! LOL
