It would be nice to know what the OP is trying to get up the "Steep" likely short incline. The OP's profile states 2005 GM 2500 so automatic trans so for a short pull the transmissions torque converter should deal with the short steep pull.
Most look at a 2 Low kit for backing up a hill either with an auto or manual. With my 2 Low I can fully release the clutch while backing up.
