Should I Be Concerned?

How long does it take to make "several fresh cigarette butts"? Maybe someone emptied there ashtray.

I would move the TT to a place on your property that is not so easy to hook and go. I don't know about the area you live so hard to say about theft but why make it easy. Since there are several fresh butts there, someone was looking at it for a reason.

In the winter here I'm home 99% of the day. I have a hitch lock (easily defeated) and a cable lock through the wheels (also easily defeated with a cut off wheel), X chocks between the wheels and tight quarters to maneuver the TT. I don't really worry about theft because its insured but I think about anything in my yard whether a trailer or tractor implement that could grow legs and walk away.

Check for battery and
Propane tanks.
Also make sure someone didn't swap theirs for yours.
Install a solar motion activated scare light.

What brand of cigarettes?

If you can, just park your tow vehicle in front of the TT for now.

I am a firm believer in "Murphy's Law" Can you imagine why anyone would be smoking several cigarette's in front of your trailer, on your property? How easy would it be to back a truck up to your trailer and haul it away?

Maybe put a coupler lock on the trailer? They are easy to use. That won't stop a professional thief, but it will stop an amateur who has spent a long time smoking near the trailer while trying to work up the courage to steal it. ;)

Maybe someone is staying in it.
