US regs are a dogs breakfast to figure out. Europe is much simpler.
Euro 4 regs which came out in 2005 had NOx at .25 grams per km and Particulates at .025 grams per km.
Euro 6 which came out in 2015 had NOx at .08 grams per km and Particulates at .005 grams per km
That is a 300% decrease in NOx and a 500% decrease in particulates over ten years.
No, I mean what are the numbers of the 2004 emissions legal truck with its 2.5 g/hp-hr NOx limit that didn't require DEF to get there versus a 2010 emissions legal truck with its 0.2 g/hp-hr NOx limit but does require DEF to get there so you have to factor in the pollution from making DEF, making the jugs for DEF, the jugs in a landfill, the emissions from the truck transporting pallets of DEF, and the emissions from the tankers that transport DEF to the pumps or totes. That is what I mean.
What are the numbers for that and is the 2004 2.5 g/hp-hr NOx limit actually emitting less NOx than the 2010 0.2 g/hp-hr NOx limit when you include what it takes to get there. Keep in mnd I am not talking about particulate matter(black soot) here which is another type of emissions and requires a different emissions device.
