Show me your carport!!

We are about to pull the plug and purchase a metal carport for our Shamrock 25rs. Just wondering if anyone else stores their tt under one and if so do you have a picture. We are torn between the 18'x31' or the 18'x36'. Our tt is 32' with the rear slide out. We do driveway camp some so I'm leaning towards the 36' so that we can have the slide out and it still be completely covered. I'm wondering if we can get by with 9' legs instead of 10' since it will be plenty wide enough. We could center the tt to wear the a/c wouldn't hit. Any opinions??
  • As said above, I'd err to the bigger side, in case you end up with a bigger TT in the future.
  • I park my trailer at home under my stick built carport. My trailer with ac is 10' 3", my carport is 10'8", so I have to make sure I have the front of the AC between trusses when I crank up the tongue to unhitch. Also I can't jack it up to service wheelbearings or brakes. I also have to pay attention where the support posts line up because it can block access to the rear stabilizer jacks so I can't crank them down.
  • Buy the 36', you won't regret having it a little longer. We have a 31 foot long, 18 foot wide, 10 foot leg and our camper fits perfectly underneath with the slide out.

Go for the 10' legs, its worth the minor upcharge to ensure that your camper will fit.
  • We considered building our own but we might eventually upgrade so we decided to just go with metal right now. I really think we're going to go with the 18'x36'. Now we just have to decide if we want to spend the extra $$$ to have the metal go to the ground on the sides.
  • How bout building one yourself, 18 x 38 with slideouts out on both sides of motorhome.

Nevada is the driest state so I just needed shade.

  • Yup, get as big as you can fit and afford. Covered storage is at a premium around here and I have four outbuildings.
  • Get the 10' legs and 36' in length, or even 40'.
You won't regret a bigger carport.
  • I take it that you don't have any solar panels or plan on getting any.
If not then go as big as you can on your carport.
