Shower fixture leaking behind shower wall

Well after dewinterizing TC and after filled up fresh water tank then turned pump on to pressurize the lines I noticed a little puddle near bathroom door.

Checked under the bathroom sink and fittings were ok. Pulled panel of the shower and saw this.

Shower fixture was leaking under base.

There is no access to the shower water lines what so ever so I took trim off shower wall and pulled back shower insert barely. Pics look wider than it is but I cannot fit my hand in between. Tested with pump on again and it is leaking at the hot water line connection bad. Tried to reach it with long channel locks but no go.

Would a basin wrench be better? Do not know if I have enough clearance. Left basin wrench up north with our seasonal TT. Too small of one anyways. Also I noticed in this pic that the outside shower box is just above that lighted area.
Would pulling this out be a better access to the shower fittings?

Inbet the closet bottom can come out and you can get to it

I agree. Even if it is tacked in place, I would attempt to pull it.
  • That is a bummer!

From the photos it looks as if there is a closet right next to the shower? If all else is unsuccessful, can you careful cut an access hole in the closet wall and then make a decent looking panel to cover the hole?

If a leak happened once then it could happen again and this permanent access panel will allow for future inspection and maintenance.
