Shower remodel

Inspired by AnEv942's bath makeover and a balky sink diverter valve we decided to redo our shower even though it is a new camper.

Poor/cheap design forced one to reach over the wood sink base while dripping water to adjust the water temp while showering.

This shower valve has no balky/clunky diverter and can be adjusted through the shower curtain with no wetting of the sink base.
The sink faucet was switched out also as there was no need for the diverter valve on the original.
Both faucets together came to less than the $35 threshold at Amazon for free shipping so we padded the order with a bag of hose/pex clamps.

The sink cabinet was barely useful for a can of corn so while the false wall was out for replumbing it was given a makeover.

We now had room for laundry supplies , GEO system tank treatment supplies , and a full size medical kit in the fishing tackle box on sale at Rural King farm store for $7.00

  • Can you not get a structure plan from the manufacturer?
  • Seeing these recent shower remodels finally gave me the shot in the arm I needed to finally flip over the shower faucet on my TC. Thanks!

Any time I've touched the plumbing on it has been a nightmare of broken fittings and leaky connections. This time it actually went well!

    No more kinked shower hose.

Now if only I could X-ray the camper's structure and find a spot to put in an outdoor shower... Not for showering per se, but for pumping out the fresh tank, washing dishes, etc.
  • You should be able to buy that foam at a good foam/rubber supply house that is frequented by upholstery folks. It comes in a number of colors, feels waxy and is closed cell stiff yet somewhat flexible. They will cut it from a block to make a sheet to almost any thickness.
BTW, some packaging uses this stuff for fragile stuff, I keep it all as I always need a bit here and there. In fact used some to fill the toungue hole under the hitch on my boat trailer, keeps dirt out and most importantly it keeps the wire harness from pulling out. Some old boat cushions that float/throwable have it, the outside wears out before the foam does...salvage it. Just ideas.
Good luck it really does the job. Hey you'll do just fine...really sharp knife is best.

Nice job a number of us have done similar installs for the exact same reason, "funky clunky plastic pull". I would suggest that you install some insulation on hte back of the cabinet on outside wall and around and on the outside shower fitting, unless you are going to chill your wine in that cabinet.
I like your reconfigure for usage.

SEE this for the insulation suggestion. Not bragging just showing what i did. Look for the black sink drain trap, that is right in fornt of my outside shower compartment.insulation

    Again good thinking nice job.

The factory's idea of keeping things from freezing up was to slap in a half-hight false wall to let the interior warm air circulate.
The kitchen sink cabinet and water pump compartment are the same way.
After/during reconfiguring the cabinets insulation is planned.
Hope I can do as neat a job of it as you.
  • Due to the small sink cabinet the new faucets had to have 90 degree hookups and I could only find that in PEX.
The outside shower was connected as shown at the factory.
  • I've got a question about your supply lines. Any reason you didn't use a conventional flex supply off of your tee's?

  • Hey nice faucet :)
Oh you have a 'dry' bath- Now I see what you were referring to when considering surface mounting the shower valve. Looks good. That works, placement of original diverter valve was a bit odd. Gotta wonder sometimes when folks design stuff.

Like the re-purposing of the paneling. When we first got out camper I removed the under bed storage platform. Got a good full sheet plus of paneling, covered 1x4s, most of its been reabsorbed in various projects inside.
