Side Impact /Pole Impact protection

I am so glad I never knew how unsafe my '63 Volkswagen with no airbags, no padded dash, windshield 6 inches from my face, and just a seatbelt, aftermarket add. We are becoming such a land of wimps. A few people fall asleep at the wheel and wrap themselves around a tree. So now, not only do they cut down all the trees along a 50 mile stretch of interstate costing millions of dollars the UN gets involved and sets a world wide standard for side impact.
