- zman-azExplorerRoad between flagstaff and Sedona will be closed until July 4. Lake Powell would be a good stop. Take a boat tour of Navajo canyon or rainbow bridge, something the kids would like. While in page do antelope canyon and a short hike to horseshoe bend. Keep in mind it will be hot in page and kingman, flagstaff will be cool though.
- 69_AvionExplorerDefinitely see the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
- 2010LibertyExplorerIf you are near Pueblo go see Bishop's Castle. http://www.bishopcastle.org/
West of Colorado Springs about 45 miles is http://www.nps.gov/flfo/index.htm
just SE of Sante Fe, NM is http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/visitors/projects.cfm?Id=L403520 and while there just a few miles down the road is http://www.blm.gov/nm/st/en/prog/recreation/rio_puerco/kasha_katuwe_tent_rocks.html hope this helps. - nipsterExplorerWhere in the rockies? That's a pretty broad area.
If on the Western side (Utah): Moab, Zion, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, then head south towards Vegas, hit Red Rocks state park, then Hoover Dam on your way to Kingman... head up Route 66 towards Williams/Flagstaff, lots of neat stuff on the way, then hit Grand Canyon
I am sure the teenage kids would be bored out of their mind, but they will see stuff they should see, and will appreciate it later in life... - exhaustipatedExplorerI just got back home last week from being in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona so I can help out a little. If you're going to be in Utah you should see the Arches and Canyonlands around Moab. South of there you could see the Valley of the Gods, Moki Dugway, Muley Point and Gooseneck State Park. Monument Valley is also a wonderful place to see and after that you should cross over into Northern Arizona and see Canyon de Chelly near Chinle. This is a place that I highly recommend. You should also make a stop in Flagstaff to see Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano and the Wupatki Indian Ruins. These places are almost must sees. If you have time a short drive from Flagstaff to Sedona to see the Red Rocks would be worthwhile before heading on to the Grand Canyon. These are all the places the wife and I explored during our two month journey so I hope this helps out a little. Send me a PM if your interested in more places to see or routes to take.
