Just a couple of additional considerations. I really think you need a reality check considering MPG no way you are going to get 8mpg difference in the 1/2 vs the 3/4 ton as you stated. al reality I get about 14 mpg unloaded my 1/2 ton got 15.6. The real consideration comes not in power plant capability but in other areas. E rated tires factory installed bigger brakes a much stronger frame a much better suspension these and other considerations is where your thinking should be. I am not saying the 1500 will not do the job. But it will not do as safely and adequately as a 3/4 ton. And yes the almost 1 liter difference in the GM 1500 vs 2500 is a big deal. not throwing stones just want you to consider the real differences.
