My previous post I said I had a 2014 Silverado 1500, 3:42 6 speed with 1666 payload. My real world experience is this...... Yes, I absolutely do know that my trailer is there. On a 9000 mile trip from the Knoxville area to the Olympic Penn. down to the Grand Canyon and back I had no issues with going up the grades or going DOWN the grades. The truck did hit 4800rpm at times but that's is what it is supposed to do. I used the manual setting on the tranny mostly. I stayed at or below 65mph and I got 9.5 mpg to 11.5 mpg depending on the terrain. Not towing I get 19 mpg around town. This truck is my daily driver so I had to balance towing capacity with every day use. I have no regrets with this truck as it does the job when towing and gives good mileage with daily use. I do believe that I am at the trucks upper limits and would not want to tow a heavier trailer with it. I hope this was a bit more helpful to you. Good luck.
