Agreed. As a Ford admirer I did my bit when I bought my truck on top of paying my taxes. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerTo Fish and wmoses sorry but you guys are wrong here.
Fish maybe back in the 1950 or earlier but from 1960 first gem Chevy C/K pickups they used the same engines as their GMC counterparts, same transmission, brakes, suspension parts, frame, even body panels.
wmoses the older trucks GMC used the expat same fenders, doors, 3/4 panels, beds & tailgates.
The differences were only cosmetic, different bright grill with quad head lights (Chevy's got dual headlights) until 1973 when GMC went with the same headlights, bright trim work both inside and out, full bright wheel covers. Other then that the same truck. The Chevy could be ordered with a upscale trim package but still not as nice as the GMC. Now the newer trucks might have some body differences but I'm not a GM fan boy but everything I can find on line shows the same body parts.
Transmissions were, TH350, TH400 a three speed on the tree and a three speed with creeper gear and a four speed.
Don - tomman58ExplorerFirst there is a lot of talk about the dmax and 3/4T trucks, this award is for the 1/2 ton not the 3/4T. Plenty of folks are waiting for the new 3/4T to come out.

GM SHOULD be able to build the best truck with all our tax money they can't seem to pay back!!!

Your Dad would be wrong. :)
I happen to have a strange distaste for the Chevy emblem and like the relative exclusivity of the GMC compared to Chevy. These alone make it a no brainer. Then there are the small trim and feature differences that make the decision final.
As for the same parts - the fenders are different with the Sierra being the sleeker and more pleasing to the eye than the Silverado, in my book.
Say what???????? :h
That is just crazy talk.
Bow tie; the symbol of class at high class events. Go to a high class event and what do you see people wearing? Bow ties, that's what.
You don't ever see anybody wearing a "GMC" around their neck as a product of class.
What do you see on the front of classy trucks? A bow tie that's what. Duuuuuuu. :W - travelnutzExplorer IIPassin Thru,
To the contrary, we have a 2004.5 Chevy D/A CC LB 4X4 that now has just over 140,000 miles on it and not even ONE of the things you conplained about has ever happened to the truck. Ordered it new in 2004 and it's only been used for carrying our 11'4" Lance TC or our 29' Carriage CarriLite 5th wheel which actually truck scale weighed 12,840 lbs when loaded to travel and a few times pulling our 26' Sunline Solaris TT. In fact, the truck's never had any repairs or needed any repairs yet other than replacing the front brake pads at way over 100K and replacing 2 burned out light bulbs. Less than $143.00 total cost in over 9 years and all those miles of heavy hauling!
Are you sure you're not spreading your story beyond thick!
BTW, Michigan salts it's roads in winter and the truck still has no rust showing anywhere or even on the frame and it's over 9 years old now traveling on these salted roads. The original Bridgestone 245 tires were replaced when worn out quickly with Michelin 265's and we just replaced them with the same this past summer. Very easy on tires and gets excellent fuel mileage towing or hauling and so cheap to maintain! - wmosesExplorer

A 1/2 truck with a 40k+ price tag. I just bought a new 2013 3500 Silverado LT Cab & Chassis Diesel with a 9' Hillsboro aluminum flatbed on it for under 46k. The new trucks have BRAKES. Huge improvement over my 2010
- Passin_ThruExplorerChevy Silverados aren't that great, the transmission to cooler lines leak oil, they're crimped pot metal to rubber, they use Chinese hubs and they go out in 50K or less and you ahve to buy Timkens or they sell you Chinese ones again. I have a 2006 Duramax and it has cost me $3000 in repairs. Chevy won't stand behind them either. They blame the owner for everything and bill him for warrranty work including the fact that the glowplugs corroded at 41000 miles and they would'nt replace them, $940.00 worth and they were a recall item.
