Silverado Towing Question

We're considering the possibility of a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 HD, 6.0L V8 to pull our 7,000 lb. TT. It has a 10,300 towing capacity and it may be the ticket to tow our trailer across the country.

Has anyone had experience with this particular truck. I would appreciate your insight.
  • I used to tow with a 1/2 ton, never again. I went up to a 3/4 ton and it is night and day difference. never go back to a 1/2 again

1/2 ton is still a 1/2 ton and I just do not understand why you would limit yourself to such small light trailers. Most serious campers eventually up grade to larger trailers. A 1/2 ton pretty much guarantees you will have yo upgrade the truck too.

Its a light duty 2500 with a 1500 badge. It has eight bolt wheels.

  • Whether a 5.3/323 or a 6.0/366 is still a small block. People never said a 327 or 350 where lacking power back in the day. Well a small block is still a small block. The newer ones now have fuel injection and electronic ignition which means the small blocks of today have more power then the old carburetor engines.

You need to know your rear end ratio to know your exact towing rate.

    My 2001 1500 Suburban 5.3/3.42/7,900 lbs.

You have to be better then this.
