six pac info?

I purchased a 2006 six pac s650 from an older couple that barely used it. I bought it for the size of the beds and relative simplicity of the camper for when Im towing my off road car into the sierras. I also have a TT for more family glamping.

Anyway, I found sixpacs old site, and spoke to FWC a bit. Im trying to get more info on the camper iff possible. There is very little out there. Things Im looking to do with mine

1.Replace ice box for fridge. I think the RM 2354 is the right one according to FWC, but that is a larger than the ice box.

2.Id like to add a water heater

3.ID like an over as well, but there doesnt appear to be room for water heater and oven unless some things get moved around or I modify things quite a bit.

4.reinforce the upper bunk/storage area into more of a bed for my 10 year old. Not sure it would hold him as it is built right now.

any info would be great. There is little out there via google-fu.

  • It can all be done ... but it will be money and time spent on a 10+ years old camper. It may be easier to go out and just buy a camper that is closer to your wants/needs. Maybe after you have used this one with minimal modifications for a season or two.

For the oven, you could just get a Coleman folding stovetop oven, or maybe an Omnia.

A fridge would be nice. I suppose retrofitting an absorption fridge into a camper that has none means a lot of installation effort. You need a gas line, electrical for 12 and 110V. Since the fridge burner needs a compartment connected to the outside air with vents and a chimney, this could be a lot of work.

A compressor fridge will be easier to install, but you will probably need to upgrade the electrical system (more battery capacity, solar) to make it work.

None of these are exactly cheap.

A water heater also needs a gas line at the point of installation, and you will need to rework the water plumbing.

If any of this is worth it to you, only you can answer for yourself.

Many campers came with all these options installed, including the upper bunk bed. It may be easier to trade your SixPack for one of these and spend the saved time and effort camping.
  • Think I'd go with a compressor fridge like a Nova-Kool or a Waeco compressor unit. Not sure without extensive modification if you could put in a water heater or oven. We have gotten by with no oven for years and out old / sold Lance had one that was just used for storage anyway.
