slide / wiring help

Question about slide out - Few weeks ago while going camping we had a blowout and cut some wires in the wheel well and fried some wires under the camper that controls the slideout - Lucky the only think that was not working was the slide and we were able to carry on and operate the slide manually - I am looking at rewiring the slide and mount the operating switch up near the battery - My question is - there are only 2 wires on my slideout motor (Barker) - How do i wire a switch to let the slide in and out with the 2 wires from the motor - What type of switch do i need to purchase ? Any help and advise would be appreciated.

You want a double pole, double throw, momentary switch.

The slide in/out is just the polarity of the wires. On a switch like the above, wire power to the center 2 pins, then connect the motor to the top or bottom set. Last, jumper from top left to bottom right and from top right to bottom left, making an X between the top and bottom pair of pins. This makes one polarity when switched up and the other when down.

If you want to flip which way runs in versus out, turn the switch over or reverse the center 2 pins.

  • Somebody with more knowledge than me will answer. However, with that DC motor it is reversed by changing the positive and negative connections; one way it is "IN" and one way it is "OUT". You need a reversing switch to do this. But like I said, wait for someone more expert than me.
