Larry, not sure if bumpy's reason is the same as mine but tying the edge of the slide topper to the ground will stretch the edge of the slide topper even if the tension in the line is low since the wind will increase the tension with each gust. Using a deflapper on an awning with arms at the side (as in a manual awning) does not cause this stretching as easily since the pull is horizontal and the distance to the point of fixity is shorter.
