As silly as this might sound, I believe there is merit in doing this. It hadn't occurred to me to check this, but I'm going to next time I tow in the rain. A little negative pressure from the vent being open in the trailer will draw in mist at every opportunity.
Ours started leaking a little in heavy rain too after 5 years. The seal is still intact, but not pushing up against the bottom of the slide as hard as it used to. I'm thinking of making a shield for mine also. Thanks for the tips folks!
