My 20 ft has this type of "basement" ... it is not something I would keep an active cat litter box in. It's pretty much the other side of the bed platform, and what smells in the basement will easily make it into the cabin.
I suppose you could cut the foam doors and put in some louvered vents, maybe a fan.
Can't cats be trained to do their duty outside on command like a dog?
