I have noticed on occasion,at some full hook-up camp sites that when the neighbors (sometimes) drain their tanks, or when leaving the campground, the "poop" odor is awful in the air. Now everyone agrees their own "poop" does not stink, so this does not apply to YOU. It applies to the camper parked beside you .... right?.......
That is because there are no caps on the sewer openings in MANY CG's. Or the camper does not replace the cap when done. I always end up going over and putting the cap back on after inconsiderate campers leave.:R
Most CG's 'require' you have a fitting for your sewer hose that screws into the sewer opening to prevent sewer gas. If you don't have one, of course they have one to sell you. Usually the rubber donut and you pay top dollar for it.
I bought the rhino sewer hose kit that comes complete with the one size fits all adapter and sewer hose connection that screws right into the sewer opening....zero smell.
Heck
"I" don't want to smell sewer gas from my hookup on my site let alone smell my neighbors. I swear some of these people don't have noses! I wish ALL CG's required the connector. :(

Buy one of these a whole 11.00 bucks.

OR at least buy one of these for a whopping 3.00 bucks.
