We do have those Asian beetles here and wasps, so it could be something like that. Kind of an embarrassing situation if folks come to visit. Also I have done all the proper steps to keep clean tanks. When empty and flushed I have no odor. which leads me to believe I have a venting issue. Thanks for any advice and or tips, Steve.
I had the same problem. It turned out that there is a square O ring between the plastic bowl and the outer plastic housing. Mine leaked and I found about a cup of black water in between the two moldings.
It is easy to fix. Remove the toilet. Disassemble the two moldings from each other and clean out the black water. Be very careful when you reassemble the unit to make sure you don't roll or twist the square (cross-section) O ring, which was the reason mine was leaking.
