Westend is correct. I have Maxxair vent covers over both of my vents. I removed both of them. They come off by just taking off four nuts from the brackets. They do not fasten to the roof itself but to the side of the vent frame via brackets.
I then cranked open the normal vent covers so I could cut in around the vents and get the rubber material up on the vent sides itself. Following that, I replaced all the Maxxair covers. The material was still wet when I did this and the covers are still removable. Then I proceeded to do the rest of the roof.

that is correct assuming that they were properly installed in the first place. I have read folks here who have bolted them down to the roof instead of buying the 4 L brackets which at one time cost extra.
