Sofabed question

New here so not sure where to post this.
We just purchased a 2006 Zinger 29RK 5th wheel. We've discovered that the sofa bed is VERY uncomfortable. We want to take some family with us when we camp so really need a bit of comfort. Having trouble trying to figure out what to do with it. Can't seem to find a new sofa to fit the space which is 66" long and 38" deep. Or we go with a new foam mattress and plywood under it for support. The sofa itself is in good shape and matches the décor so I hesitate to change it but it is hard to find a foam mattress that is 48" x 66". Has anyone dealt with this problem and /or can you suggest a solution.
I was actually looking at 2 flip flop chairs side by side which would fit exactly into the space and would fold out to 70" which would give us 4 more inches in length. However these are in the US and would cost a fortune to have them shipped to Ontario.
  • We have jackknife sofa (I think). I like the idea about the air mattress and then deflate it for storage. Don't know why I didn't think of that...
  • We have a Coleman air mattress that we will use. Inflates fast, deflates fast and is easily stored.
  • go here we just got the air dream and love it. may start sleeping on it instead of the queen bed.
  • You could use something as simple and inexpensive as an egg crate foam, then make up the bed or as fancy as a Memory Foam type. Is the sofa you have a jack-knife type or a fold out? Our jack-knife in our HTT was about the least comfy you could find and thankful we only used it turtling once or twice. Our new TT has a sofa bed with an air mattress that is very comfortable. Don't know if you normally use a mattress pad under the sheets, but that will also help to soften some of the bumpy spots. Unless you always have guests or for longer trips, I would not get too pricey with this...remember, it's camping, not a 5-Star hotel.
  • I have similar concern. I went to the site and my question is what do you do (store it) with the mattress when the bed is not in use?
  • Have a good piece of foam cut to fit
