Solaire 6 Sided Laminated Construction??

We have a 2013 Solaire by Palomino that boasts 6 sided laminated construction including the roof. The picture in the brochure shows the radius roof , but not the detail of aluminum framing used in the roof. Does anyone know if the radius roof is reinforced with aluminum framing?

I sure hope so as it claims that it is a fully walkable roof and I am just north of 200lbs.

  • Regarding the Solaire 297RLDS, it's a nice floorplan if you don't need bunks or an outside kitchen. As far as the quality of the Solaire, we were happy with ours because we bought from a very reputable dealer and they did a thorough PDI with us which solved most issues on the spot. We did have a few minor issues that were dealt with in two brief visits after taking possession, small leak in skylight, power stab jack needed new motor, defective interior seal on large slideout was replaced all repairs were done in a timely fashion.

As far as the frame is concerned they use a premanufactured "Lippert" brand welded frame with a combination of I beam and tubular metal beams, visit Lippert's website for more details.

Lastly, we would buy another Solaire.

  • We really liked the Solaire 297rlds floor plan. We are buying our first TT, so doing a lot of research trying to narrow down to a couple of manufactures and models. Have you had any major problems with yours?(seems like every rv has some problems) and would you recomend and/or buy another Solaire? Do you know what kind of frame Solaire uses? ie: 1 piece I-beam or 3 piece welded I-beam. Thanks for letting me pick your brain.
  • If the roof is laminated, it is more likely supported by the core material, rather than the framing. There will be some kind of perimeter framing, to attach roof to walls.

But I'm thinking of how Winnebago has been doing this for many years, Palomino is relatively new to this technology, could be doing something different and calling it the same.
  • Just to be safe, I'd contact Palomino to make sure it's a walkable roof.
