Nothing wrong with the breaker. Some charge controllers may let out the magic blue smoke if they are connected to the panels without being connected to the battery bank.
So the "safe" connection order is:
Controller to battery bank.
Then
Controller to panels.
BTW this has been mentioned literally dozens of times on the forums.
