We started with a Honda EU2000i and about 4 years ago we purchased a solar suitcase and now we use solar 99+% of the time to recharge our two batteries as we prefer boondocking over RV parking lots.
We use the generator only when the weather is not suitable for solar or if the microwave, AC or hair dryer is needed.
You do have to be mindful of usage, we have all LED lights installed and keep the lights to a minimum and very seldom (if confined due to weather) we may watch a DVD movie other then these minor setbacks solar has met our needs and I would highly recommend it but still keep a generator for those bad weather days.
