Solid Turnbuckles

How did you find this out? Is this for the new models? Nothing in our information refers to it. Do you know why it's recommended?

We're using Torklift fastguns on front and rear. No issues so far. They are 2012 models.

My spring loaded Torklifts are perfect for my set up.

I've sent an e-mail to Brad Boyle asking for clarification. He's really good about responding.

I have a different manufacture TC. Torklift fast guns are great.

It is stated in the Adventurer Owners manual under Loading your camper on your truck. I have been using Fastguns on all 4 corners. However one of the Fastguns appears to be having a problem. The spring loaded barrel appears to be pushed up towards the top. They were part of the deal when we bought our old camper so I was using them. However if one has broken. Then I thought I might use turnbuckles on the rear. Not to question the manufacter. But a little give with the Fastguns one would think would be a good thing.That was why I was wondering what your opinion was.

I believe they are referring to the Happijac turnbuckles . The fronts are spring loaded and the rears just have a rubber bump stop . The front attach to a bracket bolted to the front of the pickup bed and the rears attach to a "button" bolt on the rear bumper . I would stay with the torklift spring loaded all the way around as you have .

There is one other consideration on why springs on the fronts and not on the rear. I'm assuming (that alone could get me in trouble) Lance took the view that the flexing of the rear bumper was enough to take any loading disparity on the rears.
I'm thinking they had the turnbuckle thing all wrong as there is a lot more weight on the front turnbuckles than the rear and that end should remain with the truck bed and frame at that location. That's why i loosen the rears when off-road to allow the lighter rear on either side the freedom to lift off keeping the structural integrity of the TC intact for one more day and not follow the flexing of the frame.

Just went out and re-read the turnbuckle guidelines. Just goes to show you only "hear" what you want to hear. Didn't even see that part.

It wouldn't have helped us anyway as we ordered them before we picked up the TC. We went with the consensus that Torklift was the best.

I understand completly. That is why I was wondering what the masses were doing.It just seems to much of a risk ripping an anchor point out not using the Fastguns or some type of spring type tesioner. I would prefer the fastguns. As I have been. Thanks.

I just received an e-mail from Brad Boyle at Adventurer and he states that the company uses spring loaded Torklift fastguns to move their campers and he uses them on his personal camper. They are perfect.

I suggested that the literature should be updated to negate any confusion.
