I never forgot the guy I called to inquire about a Chevy with the 8.1tr he had for sale
I was still kick'n around the idea that I might want a diesel. He told me thats all he does and buys used trucks and fixes them for resale at profit and he prefers gassers!
His advice, if you don't tow 50k miles a year then its not worth the money but he would sell me one but they are pricy to repair as I already had been told! He wasn't the first to tell me about the 50k miles advice!
He said his shop is the gathering place for the local boys that get together every morning and sit around and drink his coffee. He said they make wise cracks about the gassers he buys and drives, you know cracks like "Real trucks don't have spark plugs" etc.
He says they make those remarks and then when their diesel breaks down, they are the biggest babies about the cost when he give them the bill and he gives his best friends a break on the price and they still cry! Did your dad buy that 6.0 used? might be why it has low miles! I'll take my Chevy 2500HD 6 ltr gasser any day over any diesel!
