I lock it when traveling and camping over night.
I did have one bad experience. When shopping at Cabela I was heading back to the truck when I saw a car which was parked next to the truck (in the RV section) suddenly speed off as I approached. Went back to the camper and noted that the lock was jammed. They had clearly tried to get in but I had also thrown the deadbolt.
