There isn't anywhere to put a tent at Fishing Bridge any way, I don't think. It's a parking lot. I can't remember if Fishing Bridge has bear boxes for food or not, Bridge Bay, Canyon, and Grant Village do. Fwiw, I think they did you a favor if they didn't let you camp at Fishing Bridge and you got in somewhere else not aesticticly pleasing and the loudest in my experience.

I think many of us are just calling out fake excuses for what they are.
