"Sorry, we do not take those any longer..."

said the lady at a campground in VA near Washington DC. I said it is a new 2018 truck camper on a 2015 DRW F350 and she repeated that they only took camping trailers, 5th wheels and motor homes. First time ever I have run into this limitation. There was no option to leave it on the truck just like a motor home, just that they don't take them (TC) anymore.

Anyone else experienced this truck camper "discrimination"?

  • During our travels across the USA we encountered several CGs with 'RV Type' Restrictions IE: No TC, MH only, 10 yr rule
East Coast, West Coast and places in between

Just as with any business the Owner decides type of clientele they are wanting and the risk/benefit of their choice.
It is after all their investment in time, monies and effort so they should get to decide.
    Good for them.

I personally do not support establishments that require neck ties.
  • Have they been full? Do you keep your TC clean?
Not only such attitude never happen to me with TC, but in the past I was driving 25 yo Prevost conversion and camp several times in "10 years or younger only" RV parks. Never had an issue.
  • Which campground was this? There's a very small number of them in that area and they can probably be counted on one hand.

Another reason we select State Parks. They can't discriminate. Private Campgrounds can do whatever they want.

Yes, I have heard of this happening before. It's been brought up a few times on these forums in the past.

So, you are now officially a "Trailer/Motor Home Challenged" RV impaired owner! ;)
  • Could you give the name of the CG so anyone with a TC knows they are not welcome?
