Sound bars

For those of you who have added sound bars, where did you put them. I bought a Visio 28” x 3” x 3”. The open area where my tv goes is 4” deep. Thought maybe the sound bar would fit in there but when I tried to push the tv back in its spot the tv wouldn’t fit so I could secure it. Any ideas would be appreciated and pictures would be great. Thanks

Bose is overkill in a trailer. Especially on the wallet.
  • A sound bar is designed so that it is located near the screen. That way, when a video sound track is used to depict sound traveling across the screen (think car or airplane travel), the user hears the sound moving. Also, dialogue is better heard when sound is located close to the screen.

FWIW, I have four speakers located toward or on the side walls of my trailer. Sound signal is processed therough a stereo reciever from the screen's microphone jack. The sound is somewhat smeared but works good enough for me.

  • Not sure if I can? Would have see if it would fit. I don't want to drill into front of trim or face of cabinet either. The opening I have for a tv is about 24" you could put larger size in there but still would have just the picture in opening showing.
What I did is mounted a swing bracket to piece of 1x6 and screwed the board to the inside edge of cabinet, so no visible holes showed. Then I was able to put 32" in able to swing it out, works well.
Like to mount bar behind the wall above sofa to sound would be better , way I have it bar is right over dinning table so if you seat there sound is right by your ear. It would take lot cable to mount somewhere else.
  • Hello we got a RCA one similar to size to one above. We have a corner wall shelf that tv goes, so we use the top of the window valance it is about same size, it is not fixed to stay we remove it when we are done, easy for us.

Like to figure different place but not sure where yet?
  • I bought a small tabletop Bose because I was trying to contain the sound within the trailer. Placing a sound bar in a cabinet that's attached to an outside wall will transfer sound outside.
I would imagine you could do that too. If that's not an option then fabricate something off the tv mount . Either an extension above or below the tv.

BTW, if go to 'youtube' you will see many tv/sound bar fabrications in a 'how to' video format.
  • Raise the TV?
Make the TV secure in front of the sound bar?
Return the sound bar for one that fits better?
