- Elvis-N-Amy_in_ExplorerIn the last few days of deciding on a wheel and tire.
I am upgrading from a 15 x 6 Steelie White RV wheel; to an alloy.
I am leaning towards a single machined piece like this in a 16x7; and will use a 225 width radial tire.
Just a random style example
My question to those who upgraded.
I have one inch clearance at the outside of the tire and the fenderwell of my Fiver; but have 3 inches clearence from the inside of the tire surface to the shackle.
I see these wheels in -8, -16 and -25 MM offset.
Will that not push the outside closer to the outside and cause rubbing?
Did a Zero offset allow ample clearence for you who upgraded?
Any suggestions? - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIMy 5 tires and wheels came on a pallet on a large truck with a lift gate.

Trailer tire and wheel seems to offer a lot of options. If you have 15 inch wheels, now might be a good time to upgrade to a 16 inch wheel and LT tires.
I purchased from Trailer Tires and wheels.com when I upgraded.
Trailer Tires and Wheels
I upgraded to 16" on my previous rig and bought 5 06 series from them. New BF Goodrich Comm. T'A. Delivered UPS to a campground 300 miles from home. Three day delivery mounted, balanced and metal valve stems. Asked for fresh tires and the new ones were less than 3 months old.
We upgraded to 16" On our fiver too and were very happy with the Expertise and especially their customer service. I am getting ready to buy wheels and tires for a flatbed trailer and I will be buying from them. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

Trailer Tires and Wheels
Call Scott a good guy to deal with. They have very fresh tires.
I upgraded from G to GY H tires and 17.5" Alcoa wheels and a steel wheel and cheap tire for a spare. All mounted, balanced with concealed weights, metal valve stems and shipped to WA State for $3,200
Sold the 5 tires and wheels on CL for $1,000 - Chuck_GailExplorerJust be SURE you agree with seller if buying on-line how OLD tires can be. Lots of on-line folks selling REALLY old tires. For example ask Tire Rack to guarantee tires will not be over FIVE YEARS OLD. Bet they will not guarantee any max age at all. So, are you a gambler?

i just ordered and received some Continental 245/40R18 Pure Contact XL load range V speed rated tires for the missus E350 4Matic.
that was the top rated tires in Consumer Reports Nov 2012 issue , page 61 .
Until 10 June or so I get a $ 100 rebate from Continental/ Tire Rack .
I paid $ 684 for those tires plus shipping of $ 58.60
It cost me $ 113 to get them mounted on the rimless machine at our local porsche/benz/bmw specialty shop.
my net cost is $ 755.60 for some specialty tires .
I would have been at a cost of over $ 1000 if I used Schwab/Discount Tire/America's for the equivalent Michelins which she has on there now .
An excellent tire with 99 mph speed rating for RV use is the Continental Vanco 2 . Those are eligible for the $ 100 rebate currently also .
Tha Vanco 2 is the best choice for replacing 15 inch ST tires . The load weight rating is higher than the ST tires and they are 99mph rated instead of the 65 mph rating.
Add that to the $ 100 rebate and this is clearly the best buy for RV usage .

i received them 4 days after ordering .
tire rack will sell them mounted also . Six years ago i ordered some specialty aluminum wheels for the missus benz. those also came in about 4 days . - Elvis-N-Amy_in_ExplorerLooks like I have found a good deal on wheels.
Discount charges taxes if purchased online, and their installation charges are insane.
(I have local tire shop that does all of my mounting)
Now for tires..
Marathons are made in China these days.
any suggestions on an American made tire?
Michelins are my choice for my Duramax, but would you belive I had to have 2 replaced within one year for migrating thread cap? (Loadrange E..not too uncommon)
I need a tire in excess of 2500LBS, and will upgrade to a 16 from a 15.
Comments? - 1oldtruckExplorerSturdy built trailer parts. I have purchased from them on several occasions. I originally found them on Ebay.
