Split Vinyl Floor

This winter was hard on the vinyl floor in my 2008 Roo. No water infiltration or damage (the darker wood in the pick is just a different piece of wood, not rot or mildew). The extrem cold weather cracked the floor. Seems like this is a common problem. Now need to replace it. I've seen people who have replaced with vinyl or laminate. The floor is only glued on the edges. Dealing with the cabinets seems like the worst part. Anybody have this problem in the past? Did you replace with vinyl or laminate?

  • If you attempt the repair yourself make sure the subfloor is smooth as any imperfection will stick out like a sore thumb. If you use laminate you have to leave a small gap throughout the outer walls to allow shifting. That is going to require a lot more labor but if done correctly looks very nice.
  • Check out allure floating floor sold at HD -- inexpensive, easy to install and likely looks as good as what you originally had. Lots of threads on the subject.
  • Just so you know your not alone I had the same problem this winter with my 2007 Jayco. Really bummed about it and not sure sure how I want to fix it. I have never laid flooring, and not sure I want to take on that adventure.
  • I had the same problem this winter on my 2006 HTT. Have not repaired it yet just tossed a mat over it, BUT it has to be replaced with something that can handle extreme cold temps.
