Spring adhesive for rubber?
Is there an adhesive that would work for helping to secure a section of a horse mat to the overload spring or would something like Gorilla glue be as good as anything?

Ya, I think epoxy is the only glue that may work and cure it under pressure.
Consider dado-ing the rubber pad slightly and install a couple heavy duty zippy ties or hose clamps around the pad and spring in addition to the epoxy maybe?
