I am real curious as to what causes the squeaks. Anyone ever cut one of the damaged ones apart to see? On the broken one, it looks to be stainless on stainless, normally a somewhat brittle metal.
This trip we are running a new set of Fastguns on the front tie downs of our Lance Chevy combo. We have been on the road for about a month now and these new Fastguns so far are problem free. .haven't had to adjust them a single time. These are the models with the new handle on them, similar to the handle used on the older Derringers. I am doing a product evaluation on the new Fastguns for Torklift International on this summers trip.
My Fastguns are still functioning the way they should, I have not had to adjust them but I have been on so many fine dirt roads on this trip that I just think they got dry and dusty. I have added some 3 in 1 oil and they are hanging on the camper upside down so the oil can run down into them. I'll be loading up again tomorrow so I well see how they are doing, I'm sure they are fine and when I get hom3e I'll take the caps off and tear them apart and really clean them up. Then I'm going to add slip plate to them, which is a dry graphite lub. The stuff works great and does not attract dirt.
