We pull a 40 ft Big Country with a 2014 F-350 4x4 SRW, extended cab, 8 ft bed. Before the 2014 I had a 1999.5 F350 4X4, 4 dr, 8 ft bed SRW. Total weight is 20,000 to 21,000 depending on how much water, waste, and wife's rock collection. I've pulled all over the US and on some pretty good grades up and down, in some stiff side winds across KS and NE. Not a problem with the SRW. The SRW is nice when sight seeing in some cities. Some places have narrow streets and limit parking for dually trucks.
Can't see how these numbers add up. My truck has a gross combined capacity of 21,000 pounds. Since it weighs 8,000 pounds ready to tow it limits me to a 13,000 pound fifth wheel. Currently, a 40 ft. Big Country has a GVWR of 16k which would mean your F350 4X4 loaded up and ready to tow weighs around 5,000 pounds. I am glad you have towed it all over the country without incident. The numbers just don't appear realistic for the OP.
X2!
I agree Wadcutter’s math doesn’t add up!
I tow a 32’ 12,360# GVWR 5er slightly over at 12,600#, with a 2001 Ram 2500. Ready to tow the TV weighs 7,800# without the 5er, the packages GCVW is 20,500#, the pin is right at 2,600# +/- So Wagcutter is either towing his 5er near empty or has it full of helium!
I am within tire and axle ratings, GVWR on the TV not so much!
As to a DRW, currently looking for one, not so much as the package is bad, just don’t like how far over TV GVWR I am, can’t safely go to BC.
ON EDIT: GCVWR is a warranty number based on power and gears, not a sticker number.
