A little off topic, but the OTR autos are completely different than those used in pickups. Most OTR autos are actually "automated manuals", that are essentially manual transmissions with clutching and shifting controlled by computers and servos. The Allison-type transmissions have better city performance but fuel economy and highway performance are lacking compared with the automated manuals.
Exactly! According to a great friend of mine who is an "in town" driver, they are using these almost exclusively for their local trucks. Most of their highway trucks are still true manuals, though :B
