Standing water in Northern Lite battery compartment

My 2002 10-2 CD has two battery compartments. Each compartment has a 1/2 x 8 grill opening where air (and rainwater) can get in. The forward compartment seems to drain OK. But the rear compartment has...

Anytime I see water standing around my batteries it raises a big RED FLAG that my batteries may be boiling out fluids... Be sure to check the fluids in those batteries in that compartment...

Check the status of the batteries as well... A fully charged 12V battery should read 12.6-7VDC when not on shore power... One may have a shorted cell which is causing the fluids to boil out when trying to be charged by the converter/charger...

Hopefully you just have a drainage problem like you indicated...
