Standing water in Northern Lite battery compartment

My 2002 10-2 CD has two battery compartments. Each compartment has a 1/2 x 8 grill opening where air (and rainwater) can get in. The forward compartment seems to drain OK. But the rear compartment has...

You need to get a chair for it so it doesn't get tired standing! SOORRRRYYYY!!! Just had to do it! THX for providing me a chuckle today!

Hope you figure it out, pls post your findings. And be careful cleaning water out it could be acidic.
