You should be able to find a nice 3/4 ton Suburban in your area that will have the payload you require. 1000# for family and gear + 800-900#(or more if needed) for trailer tongue weight. My Sub lived in TX it's whole life until I had it shipped here to MI last fall. I've gotten complements on it's condition at every campground I've visited so far. It's my dedicated tow vehicle and will never see a salted road. I wouldn't hesitate taking a trip to AK in it. With the 8.1L, it pulls my TT @2000 rpm at 58-62 mph for 8.5-10mpg depending on wind direction. I can pass slower vehicles with ease and pulls grades like a diesel. It's quiet, comfortable, and vibration free at all speeds.
