I am planning a long trip and plan to stay hitched at a few overnight stops. I know this has been mentioned before but how would I search for this subject?I have a Chevy 2500 and a 34' Grand Design TT. I have heard that I should unplug from the TV while overnighting, but should I put down four corner jacks? What about the power jack? Any other thoughts?Thanks for any ideas!Brian

Will you have hookups during your shorter stays? If so, no reason to unplug from the truck.

Provided the site is level...enough...no problem that I see. Stabilizing jacks? I don't. Tongue jack? Yes. To level.

Putting down the jack or stabilizers is up to you on how much your TT bounces when someone is walking in it and how much is acceptable to you. Totally your individual preference. It just needs to be level enough for the frig.Bill

We often Camp-N-Go while traveling to our destination. I have never unplugged from the TV, even with shore power, though some folks do. Obviously, we try to find a pull-through but I have at times just backed deeper into the campsite to take the TV off the campground road.We do not drop the stabilizer jacks, though you can. The WD hitch adds a certain amount of stability. We have at time slept backwards in the bed because the camp site did not lend itself to having our heads above our feet when we slept. Out West we did find a few campground with no hook-up, so we just boon docked for the night. It least it was cheap. :) :)

We have stopped for overnights on many occasions. Usually, either a Good Sam or a KOA campground. So we always have power and somewhat level campsites for the night. I still attempt to level my camper as much as possible using my tongue jack and just let it lift the truck end some. I then go ahead and put the stabilizer jacks down. My dealer told us when we purchased our camper it is always best to have the jacks down before extending the slides. So, we always put the jacks down, wherever we are at, if the slides are extended. This is just how we do it. If we do not extend the slides, we do not worry about the jacks at all. We have parked over night and never pulled the slides out. Considering we always have electricity, I always unplug the trailer pig-tail from the truck. If the trailer is hitched for any length of time, even with no electric hook-ups, I still unplug from the truck.

We do a lot of overnight stops wherever it feels safe. The first thing is to always make sure your TT is reasonably level for the frig,s sake. and I always unplug from the TV , just in case the TT draws power from the truck and leaves you with a dead battery.

We stay hooked on and leave the pickup hooked up. You don't pull enough electricity even when running the heater to pull batteries down O.N.Our TV is 120V. Just returned from a long 3 wk trip and left it hooked at a CG 3 different nites.

Unplugging is just an easy precaution. In the morning I plug back in and then make the usual round - checking lights, tires, doors, and the hitch itself.

My chev is live constantly. Ford is not. I left the fridge on 12v by mistake and both house and truck batteries were dead by morning. I un plug at night.

I'm surprised by all the posts stating to unplug from the vehicle while dry camping. I have not owned tow vehicle to date that has constant power to the trailer plug.

Simply test with a lighted test plug to make sure, of which you should have anyway to test your plug when lights are not working!

The only issue might be to unplug if you tend to use a lot of power. This will keep the truck battery from getting run down.

The rest is your convenience.

I do nothing if reasonably level for a quick morning getaway. Ford has a trailer isolator relay.

For an overnight, the truck stays hitched. I look for an area that's level enough, unplug the truck, and crawl in for the night.

My current trailer doesn't have any slides. The previous one, I made sure I could get to the bathroom, fridge, and bed with the slide in.

I didn't. Found out on first trip out that when sitting on the throne I could not close the door, because my knees hit the door. :R

After that faux-paw, when looking for RV's I push the salesman aside as he's yammering about all the amenities and go right to the bathroom and sit on the pot and see if I can close the door!! :B
