12V98. So true. Our 07, went to do a minor alignment adjustment at home to diagnose a pulling condition. Turned out to be a tire... anyways....
Tie rod would adjust fine, drag link froze solid due to the split couple lien your picture being oriented with the split facing upwards. Lubed them both. The frozen one got filled with PB blaster. Now it works again.
For this current recall, first, the solid sleeve on the new one looks to be a stronger design, not that there’s ever really and issue on any truck bending an adjustable drag link.
I surmise that this condtion was initially un tightened drag links and this “fix” is a hack. There’s just not the type of vibration that would cause this connection to loosen.
The fernco idea is a great idea though. Couple hose clamps and a small piece of flat bar or similar would also ensure locking of the jam nut.
Not defending Ram here, but this one is not really an issue imo.
