Stoped routine

So the question is: What is your routine when you stop for Fuel, Rest, Ect.?

Mine is as follows:

1 - I walk around a take a quick look at the hitch, chains, electrical plug. Is everything where it is supposed to be?

2. As I walk around the TT I will touch each axel and tire surface. Are they warmer/hotter than usual?

3. Look at the tires quick - do they appear to be properly inflated?

That being said I have yet to discover an issue! I have been doing it for so long that its just a habit. Its the way my father taught me and its how I have trained my son, he will check one side while I check the other.

  • Yep.. me too. do that at rest stops too. gotta stop every 2-3 hours just to stretch the legs.
  • X2 on the infrared thermometer. I also check the storage and entry doors to make sure they didn't self open; especially if I had recently been over rough roads.
  • I do the same thing, and I also put my ear up to the fridge vent to see if the propane is still running and keeping my fridge cool. I have had situations where it quit working while on the road. If I depart the immediate vicinity (pay for gas, go to restroom etc, I do it again before I pull out.

  • My stopped routine is about the same as yours, walk around and visually check everything. I use an infrared thermometer to check heat.
I don't have TT but, I think the walkaround is the same for any type of rig.
