storing travel trailer nose high

I thought it might be a good idea to store TT nose high this year so snow and rain could run off easier is there any unforseeable problems that I missing by storing over the winter this way and does anyone else do this we probably won't get back out until late April so we are talking 6 months.

This does not matter at all while stored.

Axel problems from being over-loaded come from bouncing down a road, pot-holes, cornering one way or the other. It's the added stress that does them in.

I would store with all tires pumped up to maximum (side wall pressure). This will account for possible added weight on some, and less chance of the tire deflating enough to loose the bead while sitting stored. Easy to happen in northern climates when temperatures drop in winter.

While we are on the storage subject. Checking the RV once a month while stored for: battery state, roof leaks, tire checks, critter problems, etc., is always a good idea.
  • Yep, always nose high when storing especially in the winter. Been doing this for ten years, no problems so far.
  • My trailer already has a steep roof pitch so it isn't needed. Keep in mind that you are probably taking weight off the front axle and putting it on the rear axle.
  • I park the TT on the side of the house with the nose a few inches high. This helps especially if I have the slide out extended, so no water sits on top of the slide.

Even when camping on site, I keep the nose slightly higher, so that the water in the shower does not run along the tub edge and on to the floor.
  • As long as you don't plan on running your refrigerator, you should be okay.
  • I do it for the same reasons. I extend the jack as far as possible. haven`t ha any issues for the last 6 years!
