Stove hood vent on the outside wall. Time for a new one

Old vent has now been removed.

Ventline shows a couple of different designs-site is a bit lacking in navigation. Couple 'look' like they might be retrofitted but no real details. Few obviously wont because cutout size we have too large.
Otherwise I might have pursued, the exterior hoods on couple actually folds closed but the cutouts are smaller. Few show different 'color fast' material.

Bottom line I went the $10 route, ended up painting it.

We saw the stainless Airstream vent for sale at the Airstream factory when we took the tour. I believe it was around $140. Spray paint is the way to go.

I put about 12 coats of white Krylon Fusion on the inside and outside trim rings. I disassembled the windows and did them off the door.

Replaced mine in Oct 2015. Took it off and scrapped all the old sealant off the camper. Next, I scuffed up (with 200 grit sandpaper) the new vent, put a coat of primer on it and followed that with some white enamel. Next, I applied new DICOR all around the entire opening and attach points on the camper and reinstalled. Put some blue tape around the vent opening to catch the DICOR as you tighten the vent to the camper. Pretty happy with it. Take a look....what a difference!

At any rate I was looking for the same thing. As my vent is right in the middle of my ladder. I find one that was stainless, and only one on the internet. I remember around $100. Thought about it for fast second and got another cheap plastic one. But this time around I painted it first with Krylon satin 2420 and also top coated with their clear UV protection 2444. Only been on there for year 1/2 but looks great. I found about their "sun protection" when in a Ace hardware store and corp big wheel some guy was showing the store manager something about paints. Thought I would try it.

Can't find source for stainless steel one but somewhere on the Airstream forum I ran across where to get it. Also see link... 3rd pic down is what it looks like.

On painted version...Long term serviceability is yet to be determined, but I painted everything on top of the roof (vents, covers etc) and pleased with the above Krylon paint numbers.

P.S. And about a month after installing the new vent one of the cheap plastic dog ears flaps (used to keep vent shut) fell off. So back to a clothes pin:)

I have the same issue and I replaced ours only 18 months ago.

I found that "Mean Green" cleaner sprayed on straight and then allowed to sit for a few seconds will take off the oxidized plastic. I spray it on wet and try to keep it off the fiberglass. I've tried it on fiberglass and it doesn't affect it, but it does remove the ZEP shine.

The yellow runs off. I wipe it off and repeat several times and the vent comes out looking close to white.

Same happens with the plastic motor housing on my HappiJacks and the inside trim ring around each of the vents and skylight.

I think it is due to the ammonia in the cleaner. Probably any ammonia based cleaner will work.

Not all plastic yellows so badly. Our fridge vents aren't painted and have shown no sign of this problem.

If you can remove it in one piece take it to a sheet metal shop and have them made a duplicate and then have it power coated. Yes it will cost you a few dollars to do this, but it will be made out of sheet metal instead of that cheap plastic.
