The tow rating of the 6.0L with 3.73 is only 7500 pounds and about 9500 for 4.10. So that's borderline for a 9000 pound RV. I love my 6.0L but I wouldn't touch it with the 4-spd trans. V10 is probably your best compromise. About GM 6.0L fuel economy and about GM 8.1L power. I really wanted an 8.1L, but it would not be a primary commuter then.
Now I understand DickB's problem with the 6.0L if he never revs over 3000rpm. Mine just starts to wake up and 3000rpm and pulls strong to over 5500rpm. I get 14mpg mixed commuting/kid hauling and 18mpg unloaded highway. We love ours, but again the 6-spd makes such a huge difference IMHO.
