What can I say, I love my 8.1. Bought this truck brand new from dealer stock...I got a heckuva deal because the dealer couldn't give this thing away....one of the largest Chevy dealers on Long Island and I think GM made him take this in inventory because of the zillion soccer-mom 1500 burbs he sold every month.
Have 151k on her now and she's head for another 100k with the Jasper 4L80E I put in last summer. Our camper is typically 8500 lbs but gets to be upward of 9000 when we boondock and pack up full water and firewood.
Member crappie_fisherman on here had a V-10 X, his TT was similar. He re-geared to 4.30's and went West to all the national parks, etc., and said performance was great! (He has since sold the TT and X and bought a BIG honkin' class A.)
As was pointed out the X needs some suspension upgrades, but the burbs have issues too, including flimsy receivers and rusting brake lines. Without going into a checklist on each brand, suffice it to say you are doing your own work. :B
