I am baffled how GM who did have a diesel SUV from the early 90's to 99 did not want to continue the tradition with a vastly more powerful and reliable engine. Adding 2" lift or modifying the trans tunnel seem to be minor obstacles for a manufacturer. I wonder if there were other issues at play? Especially considering the competition when the Excursion 7.3L came out.
