No coils on the 2500 burb, torsion bars up front and leafs in the back. If you get the 4.10 gears it is very comparable to the V-10 with 4.30's., mileage about 10, 12-13 on the hiway, 7 to 8 towing at 70 mph. Our TT is 1200 on the tongue about 9000 overall.
The 8.1 is about as bulletproof as engines get, it's the rest of the truck that wears out. The last year for the X was 2005, the last year for the 8.1 in the burb was 2006. The problem with both is that they are getting to be very hard to find in good condition.
If yours is fixable that might be the way to go.
