Superduty Death Wobble

A friend of mine had a low mileage 2017 350 srw, short box that the dealer couldn't stop from wobbling. It would happen when towing. He finally had enough and traded for a new F450.

That's going to get a bunch of lawyers a whole lot of money. The truck owners might see $500 per.

I had it happen at 110 mph on my motorcycle but so far I've never experienced it in a truck. Even though Ford should be doing something to remedy the problem I think if my truck had the issue I would install a steering damper.

Unacceptable on new trucks and yet it can happen to any solid axle vehicle...and does.
Sometimes due to worn parts, sometimes defective parts, sometimes bad geometry/alignment, sometimes bad engineering, sometimes bad roads and sometimes bad tires and most of the time a combination of 2 or more of the above.
It doesn't happen often and it's not brand specific.
And sounds like it's actually news to some city slicker reporter who drives a Corolla.

Make sure the steering box to frame bolts are tight to the correct torque value and add an aftermarket steering damper.

Having lifted Jeeps most of my life, death wobble is very common due to pinion angles, drop pitman arms and tire balance.

Unacceptable on new trucks.

That would be my former dealer after that advice. Currently I have no confidence in our hometown’s Chevy dealer, a relationship begun by my dad in 1960, and purchase and service elsewhere.

Wow, that’s EXPERT dealer advice...don’t drive on rough roads.

Seems like this is a problem that only happens on solid front axel vehicles. I had that happen with my 1987 Chevy v20, but it was because the tires were shot. Hasn't happened since new tires. Seems like I have heard of dodges with the same problem. Scary for sure when it happens, but doesn't seem to be widespread. As many of those trucks ford has on the road you don't hear much about it. The dealer in the article said not to drive the truck on rough roads.....I guess that means he can't drive in Michigan.
